ASRC Industrial Services GPS Manager (Civil Construction) with AIS Infrastructure in Atlanta, Georgia

ABOUT

The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four civil/vertical construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, vertical construction, site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The GPS Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation of GPS technology, machine control, building GPS models, and drone operations in construction projects. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate surveying, mapping, and data collection to support the successful execution of construction and industrial services projects. The GPS Manager must possess a strong knowledge of GPS technology, drone operations, and adhere to AIS Infrastructure's safety standards and protocols.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and coordinate GPS surveying and mapping activities on construction sites.

  • Manage the operation of drones for aerial surveys, inspections, and data collection.

  • Ensure the accurate setup and calibration of GPS equipment and drones.

  • Conduct quality control checks on GPS data and drone-collected data.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to analyze and interpret survey data.

  • Train and mentor GPS technicians and drone pilots.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment and drones.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines for GPS and drone operations.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of GPS and drone operating procedures.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in operating GPS equipment and software.

  • Strong knowledge of GPS surveying techniques and principles.

  • Ability to interpret and analyze survey data and maps.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Customer service-oriented mindset.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • FAA Part 107 drone pilot's license or equivalent certification.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in GPS surveying and drone operations.

  • Proficiency in GPS software and data processing tools.

  • Experience with Trimble or similar GPS equipment.

  • Knowledge of GIS software and applications is a plus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS

  • Work primarily on construction sites, both indoors and outdoors.

  • Exposure to construction hazards and varying weather conditions.

  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and lifting heavy equipment.

  • May require occasional travel to different project locations.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical requirements may include walking, standing, bending, and lifting heavy equipment.

  • Mental demands may include problem-solving, decision-making, and working under pressure.

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
