Position Summary
RSI is recruiting for a Water Sampler who will be responsible for organizing, performing, and maintaining the Weldon Spring sampling program as well as assisting and supporting in maintaining compliance and integration with Office of Legacy Managements’ (LM) Sampling and Analysis Plan. This position will be functionally connected to the Environmental Monitoring Operations (EMO) group. The successful candidate will be required to assist with managing facility and operations related tasks at Weldon Spring. These tasks may include managing reference files and materials, wastewater and leachate operations, prairie maintenance activities (vegetation control and spraying), vehicle and equipment inspection, cleaning and maintenance, assisting with procurement purchasing, and subcontractor oversight.

Hiring Range: $ 50,000-$60,000per year.(The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 25-50% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collect water samples from streams, ponds, and monitoring wells in accordance with technical procedures.
Coordinate and prepare samples for shipping and analysis in accordance with established protocols.
Record data, document sampling activities, and prepare summaries of field activities performed.
Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on scientific field instrumentation.
Operate, troubleshoot, and performs routine maintenance on field equipment such as pumps, generators, compressors, and controllers.
Operate fixed or mobile monitoring equipment used for data collection and transmittal of environmental data.
Operate, maintain, and collect samples from leachate treatment system and wastewater treatment system to support operations.
Drive and safely operation government furnished vehicle and UTVs to site locations to perform multiple field tasks.
Assist with prairie maintenance, spraying of herbicide, and removal of invasive species.
Assist in the compliance and implementation of the Sampling and Analysis Plans for the Weldon Spring site.
Support the operations and maintenance of Weldon Spring sampling events.
Support safety, compliance, and security for field and sampling events.
Assist in the enforcement of rules and procedures to ensure safety and security at Weldon Spring site.
Responsible for integrated work control compliance and authorize work activities associated with the sampling program and other tasks at Weldon Spring site.
Assist in purchasing and organizing supplies and materials under purchase orders.
Support and assist the Contracts department in developing scope of work as necessary.
Ensure that work being done is authorized properly through the plan of the day and the plan of the week processes.
Assist in preparing Statements of Work (SOW) and specifications, review Job Safety Analyses and support procurement/contracts for services associated with sampling activities.
Coordinate and/or perform routine corrective and preventive maintenance activities associated with groundwater wells and other facility operations at Weldon Spring site.
Assist functional groups in conducting quality assurance, safety and health, and Environmental Management System (EMS) audits of sampling and analysis plans and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related STEM field. Experience in lieu of education considered.
Minimum 2-5years of relevant experience
Required Skills and Abilities
Skill and ability to perform professional tasks under general supervision and guidance.
Ability to organize work independently to meet established objectives, using discretion in performing duties.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Experience using analytical techniques to calculate volumes, flow rate, dilutions, etc.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interact with the internal and external clients on various sampling and analysis related issues.
Proficient Technical writing ability
Interpret government regulations and mandates for reporting purposes.
Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts, and techniques of groundwater sciences (geology, hydrogeology, geo-physics, etc.) and other environmental science related fields.
Microsoft Office suite, including but not limited to Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Essential Physical Requirements
Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
